Margaret Delphia (Delle) Mackenzie Moffett was the daughter of Rachel Geraldine (Blanchard)
'02 and Harold B. Mackenzie Sr. '09 and granddaughter of Charles
and Mary (Milligan) Blanchard. Upon graduating from Wheaton College
'38 she married Howard Fergus Moffett '39 and the couple first served in
China followed by 45 years in Korea (1948-1993) where Dr. Moffett
practiced medicine and was the Superintendent
of the Dongsan Hospital in Taegu, now in the Republic of
Korea. Delle assisted Howard with the quarterly Newsletters and
never-ending correspondence necessary to raise funds for the hospital, nursing
school, leprosarium and satellite hospitals. The Moffetts were honored
with the Wheaton Alumni Association's Distinguished Service to Society award in 1962 as “medical
missionaries and evangelists.” Delle and Howard had four children: Howard Mackenzie
Moffett(Skip), Charles (Charlie) Blanchard Moffett '68, Marilyn Moffett Taylor and Samuel McCune Moffett
'73. She was predeceased by brothers John, Bob, Bruce, Richard (Alec) and a
sister, Jean Airhart. Moffett passed away on January 20,
2010 in Santa Barbara, CA at age 94. |
